
The Varna Archaeological Museum will be an official partner in the realization of the international maritime expedition ABORA IV. It is organized by the German researcher and experimenter Dr. Dominique Giritz. At the end of May 2019 sailing will begin in Sochi (Russia) and its route will pass through Varna (Bulgaria), Istanbul and Troy (Turkey), Athens (Greece), Aegean Islands Lemnos, Milos, Terra and will finish in the Crete.

Study of a Tower on the Late Roman Fortress Wall of Odessos
At 13 Voden Street, rescue archaeological excavations were carried out in the cellar of a modern building on the premises of the Odessos Archaeological Reserve. The purpose of the study was to investigate further the route of one of the already known fortified walls of the Ancient Odessos.
Rescue Archaeological Study in Ancient Odessos and Late Medieval Varna in 2017
The rescue archeological survey was conducted at 7, Dragoman Street, Varna (Figure 1). Excavations were concentrated within a plot of land with a building (an architectural monument of culture from the beginning of the 20th century) and the adjacent courtyard. To clarify the archaeological situation the survey was carried out in two research squares. They were situated as follows: one in the southern part of the plot– in one of the existing building’s spaces and one in the northern part –in the yard (Figure 2).
